Dissecting Romeo and Juliet

Ok, I have come up with some more reasons why I think Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is pathetic.

1- what is the point? I honestly cannot see the point of Romeo and Juliet being a tragedy and not a romance, it is so clearly a romance story, but apparently not

2- The language. No one can undecided the language, not unless you are an Elizabethan language expert or if you are just one of those people who pretend to understand it but when asked what it means just go "ummmmmmmmmm"

3- Romeo. He is soo pathetic. One minute he's in love with Rosaline and the next, he's in love and married to Juliet. Pathetic, shallow loser

4- Juliet. She starts off as if she is going to be all incontrol and I won't loose my virginity until we're married- which is probably why Romeo asks her to marry him the day after they meet.

5-The Nurse. Hummm, not much to say about her, but I still think she's kind of pathetic and she just dumps Juliet when Capulet tells Juliet she will marry Paris or she will no longer be his daughter. It's always nice to know who you can rely on.

That's all for now, sorry if you are a HUGE fan of Shakespeare or if you love Romeo and Juliet, but when you've been forced to write an essay about it, dissecting almost every single scene and Act, you sort of develop a hate for it.

If you have any views on this, comment me! I'm open to your opinions!

Love you all

The idea of romeo and juliet is clearly that these ppl hate each other so much that they are each sacrificing their own child so that they can instead hate the other family. It's a tragedy because these character's are both rich and powerful and have so much promise in their lives yet they still end up killing themselves over a character flaw.

Romeo is just a fool. he doesn't think things through and he's just totally going off impulse. he sees juliet and forgets all about rosaline and whether or not he can actually be in love with juliet isn't the point at all: the point is that romeo and juliet BELIEVE that they're in love and they believe it strongly enough that they are willing to kill themselves over it. And juliet is just a teenage girl, she sees stars and is dillusional and just loves this guy soo soo much and believes that he'll make her happy when the life she is currently living is clearly making her miserable.

The nurse does what she can to help juliet but she thinks that this is just some foolsih teenage faze that juliet should get over.

and the language is what makes the story interesting, and keeps the text witty.
it's sort of the point

see all shakespear is is just themes that are timeless you just need to put them into context with your own life.

im sorr y i just love that play.
